Q. How will my Biol 1010 Introduction to Biology Virtual class work this fall?

Thank you for your interest in Biology 1010, Introduction to Biology I, course this fall.  Neither our lectures nor our labs will be meeting on- ground for the fall 2020 semester.  You will have a virtual class and your class will meet based on your scheduled class time for the lecture and lab that you signed up for.  Virtual lectures and labs will be a combination of pre-recorded lectures and specialty “difficult-topic" lectures.  During class time, we will be answering questions, supplementing those lectures with discussions, interactive class activities, working on "at home" labs together, tutoring, quizzing, applying, etc.  Each of those sessions will be recorded so that you will have access if your schedule does not permit you to attend class that day. .

You will need to purchase both a course manual and a laboratory kit.

  • The course manual may be purchased through the bookstore.  The specific information is here:

Intro to Biology 1010 Course Manual Online (CUSTOM) Edition: 2nd ISBN: 9781533916013

  • The laboratory kit must be purchased through Carolina Biological Supply directly and is approximately $120.

You will have a total of three proctored exams.  The exams can be proctored using the Honorlock test proctoring software from any location or you can make an appointment and use on-ground proctoring on campus.
