Augusta R. Kolwyck was appointed as the first librarian of Chattanooga State in 1965. She was passionate about creating a great library for Chatt State students. Mrs. Kolwyck retired in 1972 after overseeing the early years of tremendous expansion and improvement of the campus library. When Chattanooga State opened the new IMC building in 1977, the library was dedicated to Mrs. Kolwyck.
To assure that the Chattanooga State library would continue to grow and serve its students well, Augusta Kolwyck arranged to leave a fund for the library upon her death. Here's a PDF link to her obituary: https://library.chattanoogastate.edu/ld.php?content_id=3669075
