The HiSet is a test similar to the GED test. It takes the place of a high school diploma, which is required to attend any college.
To pass the HiSet and get your "high school equivalent" credit, you must do all three of these things:
- Achieve a scaled score of at least 8 out of 20 on each individual subtest
- Score at least 2 out of 6 on the Language Arts — Writing essay section
- Achieve a total scaled score of at least 45 out of 100 on all five subtests
For more information about the HiSet, please look here: https://hiset.ets.org/resources/faq
The ACT or SAT is used by Chattanooga State as a placement exam to know whether you're ready to immediately start college-level classes here or if you'll need a little refresher course here first.
Instead of the ACT or SAT, you can come to campus and take a placement test (free the first time) at our Testing Center. You'll need to register for the test in advance. For more information and a link to the online registration system, please go to https://www.chattanoogastate.edu/academics/testing-center .
