Install Microsoft Office for free!

? What? Chattanooga State has made an agreement with Microsoft to provide the latest version of Office to every one of our students and employees for free. (Note: Office cannot be downloaded on a Chromebook or Kindle Fire, though some Office apps are available.)
This subscription-based software includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more. You will be able to:

  • Install Office on up to 5 compatible PCs (Windows 7 or later) and Macs (OS X 10.10 or later), plus 5 tablets 
  • Sync devices automatically and have 1000 GB of free online storage with OneDrive for Business

IMPORTANT: All of these computers must belong to you personally! Do not install this Office account on business or campus computers. Please note that all your installations will be registered to the same account and will share files through OneDrive.

? Who? If you can currently access your Chattanooga State Office 365 email (TigerMail) account, you're eligible!

Faculty/Staff may also download Office, but this is allowed on personal computers only, NOT campus office computers! Note that your installed Office software may deactivate a few months after your contract ends or you leave employment at Chattanooga State.

? How?  Just follow these instructions!

Office apps for iPad tablets:
         Go here, tap Send email, and enter your TigerMail address:
          - Students:    tigerID
          - Employees: firstname.lastname
         For the password, enter your TigerID (TigerWeb) password.

      Office apps for Android tablets:
         Download the individual apps (Word, Excel, etc.) from the Google Play Store.
         Sign in to them with your TigerMail address to unlock full functionality:
          - Students:    tigerID
          - Employees: firstname.lastname
          For the password, enter your TigerID (TigerWeb) password.


Office for Windows or Mac computers:

1.  Log in to TigerWeb at

2.  Click the blue ball labeled "e-Mail" to launch TigerMail.

3.  (only if you are prompted to login) Log in to TigerMail (Office 365) with --
your full TigerMail address 
   - Students: (notice the . after "my")
   - Employees:
    Password:  your TigerID password 
(the same one you use to log into TigerWeb)

4.  Click the square made of 3x3 dots the top left corner, then the text “Office 365” in the top right corner of the box that appears.

5.  Click the down arrow next to Install Office apps, then click “Office 365 apps”.

6.  Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Office. 

7.  When the software asks you to Sign in or Activate Office:

  • Choose Work account (if given a choice).
  • Enter your full TigerMail address
        - Students: 
        - Employees: firstname.lastname
  • Enter your TigerID (TigerWeb) password.
