PowerPoint for Mac: Procedures are a little different if you're using an Apple Mac computer.
PowerPoint 2011: Unfortunately, there is no easy way to insert YouTube videos if you are using the 2011 version of PowerPoint on your Mac. Your best option currently is to use a program to save the YouTube video as an .mp4 or .mov file on your Mac and then use the Insert Movie function in PowerPoint. One popular program for saving YouTube videos is Free YouTube Converter for Mac; it can be downloaded at http://download.cnet.com/Free-YouTube-Converter/3000-2194_4-75734820.html.
PowerPoint 2016: To embed YouTube videos in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac, you'll need to install an Add-in for Office.
In PowerPoint, select the Insert tab on the ribbon, and then select Store.
(Or, in your web browser, go to https://store.office.com.)
Enter "Web Video Player" in the search box, and follow the steps to install the Add-in.
Once the Add-in is installed, you'll be able to use it to play videos from YouTube or Vimeo directly in your slides. For more information, see Add a video to your PowerPoint 2016 for Mac presentation.
